Man sued Sony for PS3 firmware v3.21

A Californian man, Anthony Ventura, had sued Sony for its PS3 Firmware V3.21 which disables the ability to install Linux. "Older models that were equipped with the ability to install other OS is now obsolete" was the complaint and it was filed as an "intentional disable of useful features that were advertised originally".

Sony announced that it's removing security problems of function also pointed out that it is based on self-interest to anti-piracy. It involved users and millions of unrelated people and the plaintiff are demanding more compensation of more than $5,000,000.

MBP Core i7 can even fry eggs!

The MacBook Pro equipped with Core i7-620M processor can turn up the heat, literally. During PC Authority recent stress test of Apple's latest MBP line up, they noticed that the shiny silver notebook get pretty hot; hot enough to be hazardous. Running Maxon's Cinebench 11.5 caused the temperature to go as high as 95 degrees Celsius on round one and it went even higher on round two at whopping 101°C. I wouldn't want that thing on my lap at that time. It's buddy, the Fujitsu Lifebook SH 760 with the same processor was 20°C cooler at 81°C, and it was even cooler to the touch. Hopefully Apple will do something about these temperatures before someone get fried.

Edit: On the side note, notice that the processor screencap for Fujitsu's notebook was a Core i5?

Shortage of Arrandale chips leads to premium prices

Shortages of Core i3 and i5 notebook processors has led to chip buyers paying 20 percent premiums on contract prices in a competition to outbid each other. Looking at this situation, AMD might have a chance to win market share in supplying microprocessors for laptops.

The shortage of Arrandale chips might affect smaller vendors but won't really have much of an effect on larger vendors. Converge also believe that the Arrandale shortage must ease soon or it will have a prolonged effect and according to Shawn Rau, "I don't think that the shortage will be so acute as to hold back the market and raise system prices significantly," is what he said.

Assistant Inspector - I didn't know it was illegal

A police officer, Yoshinori Okada, 46, was arrested on Wednesday for carrying a model gun. The model gun was determined to be able to wound someone as it had been modified to shoot metal bullets. The officer from Fukuoka is suspected of violating the Firearms and Swords control law after an illegal model gun was found at his home on April 15.

When interrogated, he actually claimed he didn't know it was illegal. Now here's the insider - he's an assistant inspector. Which means he should know the law since his position requires some understanding of it. Well, the police are now investigating other model guns he have in his home. Tough luck I say!
