Steve Jobs just made a statement "No to Adobe Flash". This is not really great news now is it? With Flash player banned on the iPhone and iPad, this leads to users unable to view 75% of videos on the web.
Jobs also said, "Flash has not performed well on mobile devices" and "We also know first-hand that Flash is the number-one reason why Macs crash." True or not, I'm not convinced flash has not perform well on mobile devices. I'm using a HD2 and frequent flash enriched webpages using SkyFire and I haven't get errors yet.
He also added that "Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind." and also cited "security and performance' and the fact that Flash was designed for PCs using mice, not for touch screens using fingers."
With Apple not the only player in touchscreen devices, there's Windows Mobile and Android in the scene as well. I guess consumers like us have to decide what is best for us.
